Frequently Asked Questions

How do I play?

Every player receives the same secret word — except the spy (or spies), who get nothing. Players take turns asking each other questions about the word. The spy tries to blend in and guess the word; everyone else tries to figure out who the spy is before the timer runs out.

What's the difference between Pass & Play and Nearby Devices?

Pass & Play uses one phone passed around the table — each player privately peeks at their role card. Nearby Devices lets every player join from their own phone over the local network: one player hosts a room, the others discover and join it, and roles are dealt privately to each device.

Nearby Devices can't find other players — what do I do?
  1. Make sure all players allowed Local Network access (iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network > SPY).
  2. Turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on on every device — no internet or router needed, but the radios must be enabled.
  3. Keep devices close together (same room works best).
  4. Turn off Personal Hotspot and VPN if enabled — they can block local discovery.
  5. If it still fails, close and reopen the app on all devices and re-create the room.
A player disconnected mid-game — is the round lost?

No. The game detects the drop and lets the remaining players continue or restart the round. The player who dropped can rejoin the room if the host is still hosting.

How do I remove ads?

Open Settings in the app and choose Remove Ads. It's a one-time purchase processed by Apple.

I purchased Remove Ads but still see ads. How do I restore my purchase?

Go to the app's Settings and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account used for the original purchase. If ads still appear, force-quit and reopen the app, then email us with your purchase receipt.

Why did the app ask permission to track me?

That's Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, shown because the free version uses Google AdMob ads. If you allow it, ads are more relevant; if you decline, you still get ads, just less personalized. Change it anytime in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Details in our Privacy Policy.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Both game modes work without internet. Nearby Devices uses direct device-to-device networking — no router or data connection required.

What languages are supported?

English and Arabic, with full right-to-left layout support in Arabic.

The role card hides when I switch apps — why?

That's the privacy shield: it prevents your secret role from appearing in the app switcher where other players could see it. Return to the app and hold the card to reveal your role again.
